New Word Challenge at Bird is the Word~TODAY

I'm a couple days behind posting this. But anyway, the past couple of days had been pretty hectic for me...Sleepless nights...potty training...

This started because of this 3. They seemed to be deciding something.

After this:

..and this...

....and this...

...this one too...

...especially this one...

....We ended up with this one....Meet Zoe, our new puppy.

This is the reason why I'm late posting my DT Project for Bird is the Word. Taking care of a new puppy..let me tell you, it ain't easy! Plus you add the 2 kids on top of it? I have no energy.

Anyway, for this challenge you have to use the word "Today". You can us as a title or part of your journaling. You can submit a layout, card, or any altered project.

Here is mine:
Made this page using my daughter, Alyssa's picture. I made the flowers using satin and lace (and a bad allergy episode). I can't believe how much the satin frayed after cutting them in small strips. They ended up everywhere..2 Benadryl later, I was able to finish my flowers.

Here's the sketch from Nadia if you wish to use. Following the sketch is not a requirement.
Pls. visit BIRD IS THE WORD and get inspired by the other DTs' projects and check out the entries we've received.
The winner will get a prize kit from Tidbitz in Time.

Thanks and talk more later..Hugs, Marivic

July's Guest Design Team Members

Hi,
I really want to welcome our July's GDT Members. But unrotunately, this weekend I didn't have any internet access. No internet for almost 3 days was no fun for me. I do everything on line, I used my phone for email and it was terrible, I wonder how can people manage to do business with just a phone. I even had an ipad to use and it was a complete waste of time. So I hope I won't have to encounter the same problem again. So now I will be suspicious when they do road work again because I know for sure they will not only mess with the traffic, they're also messing up the DSL lines...I just don't understand why they just thought of widening the roads just now after the fact that they built subdivision after subdivision years ago knowing that there are only 2 roads each way and that this area is going to get populated...Okay, enough griping..

On a lighter note, I'm happy to have Alma, Lacey and Emily join us this month as GDT members.

Here they are:

Alma

I've always been a pretty artsy person. I mostly loved to draw but never pursued that interest in school. For me, the papercrafting phenomena all started back in July 2006. It took about a year after attending a Stampin Up stamp-a-stack before realizing that papercrafting was my passion and a way to indulge the inner artist in me. At first, I was addicted to collecting all of the basic necessities using every Michael's or Jo-Ann's coupon I could find including the many stamp sets my budget would allow me to purchase. It's been a privilege to have so much inspiration from many talented artists. I am still kind of finding my place in the papercrafting world, but I tend to gravitate more towards the vintage shabby look but like to have my cards to have a clean look to them as well.

I find that creating projects is a time I can spend thinking out of the box and a time to create gifts for those special people in my life. It gives me great joy to see the look on someone's face when I have given them a handmade gift. It becomes a truly remarkable memory. I have had the privilege of working in several wonderful design teams in the past and ready to get back in the saddle again. Come and visit me at my blog Me, Myself and I-N-K.

Lacey

I'm Lacey....aka Craft Donkey. 27 year old single mother of two great kiddos. (but we all have to say that right?) Desiree just turned 6 on July 4th and my son Taylor who is 11. I work from my home running a preschool of 12 kiddos ranging from 2 to 5. I have two pups.. who both weight over 100 pounds each. I have crafted for about 9 years. i enjoy teaching others to do things that they were always too intimidated to try. I love to blog and write, so often journaling is a huge part of my layouts. I also love diving into anything altered. Hmm what else: fave tv shows lately have been House MD, The Voice, Bones and Army Wives. I love finding motivation anywhere I can. In the colors or patterns of a shirt, the display signs in a store and so forth.

Here are Lacey's projects:

Emily

My name is Emily and I am a SAHM, and I guess you can consider me a WAHM since I spend so much time with this new venture :) I have been doing arts and crafts all my life. It all started with construction paper. I had to be the only kid walking outside with a complete outfit made out of it! Yes, I do have pictures to prove, lol. I have two kids who are also creative and love to draw and paint. As far as paper crafting goes itself, I started about 11 years ago and it has since grown from there. Because I've always been creative, my love for altering things, making handmade gifts, sewing, crocheting and all those wonderful things are popping up with my paper crafting. I love doing new things and trying new techniques.

Thank you Alma,Lacey, and Emily!

New Challenge at Bird is the Word~HOPE

Hi, I'm back again. Happy 4th of July! Enjoy your day and I hope it's filled with lots of fun, yummy barbecues, cool watermelon, colorful shaved ice, delightful strawberry pies, and of course have fun watching the spectacular fireworks tonight.

Here is the new challenge over at BIRD IS THE WORD. The challenge this time is to use the word "HOPE" with your project. You can do a LO, card, or any altered item as long as you incorporate the word to your project. The winner will receive a fabulous kit from our sponsor TIDBITZ IN TIME. Submission will close at midnight Central Time 7/31. Pls. follow the link to the website and attach your project on the sidebar following the link HERE.

Here's DT project using the word "HOPE"

This is a LO of my son Joshua at a beach in Roatan. My kids love the water so much and it is a great pleasure for me just to watch them have fun in the water.

I used Crate Paper Toy box Collection. I found a bunch of loose toys (I step on them all the time) and added them to the page.

I used one of my tags to add another embellishment to the page.

I put the page on the shadowbox. It is too bulky to put in an album.

Here is the sketch that Nadia provided which you can use if you want.

Thank you..I hope to see you there!

First of July Projects

Hi everyone,

First of all, I want to share with you my project as a DT member for SCRAP FOR HELP. This month theme is about friendship.

These are the rules to join the challenge:

- Do a project with the theme of friendship
- If you want to submit a Layout, you have to use the sketch provided by the Guest DT, Nadia Canizzo
- * Use an empty soap box, chocolates, etc....

Here's my rendition of "friendship" on a tag.

Okay, I found this gum carton at whole foods, I thought it was great since it had that retro theme. I always love the vintage images. Since they just throw these boxes away, I just asked the cashier if I could just have it..I bought a pack of gum and other food that they sell that are not too healthy..Like cupcakes and chocolate and whipped cream. What was I thinking buying these items at whole foods? I think they're organic, so it's got to be healthy.

The flower I made by using a strip of old fabric.

Cheers to our girlfriends who always have our backs..

Before I get side-tracked (again), I've only been on this page for 2 hours now, both of my kids are sick so I'm tending to them while I finish this.

Here is Nadia's sketch.

Make sure you follow the link where you can add your project on the side bar of the
BLOG.
The winner will receive an awesome RAK from one of the sponsors.

Thank you and please visit SCRAP FOR HELP and check out the other DT members amazing work.

I will be back again later to post my DT members projects for the month of July, plus another challenge at our website.
