Canvas with Wings - Alicja (Asica) Panewka

Hello Everyone

Welcome to Friday and a BIG welcome to another Guest Designer this month, Alicja Panewka.
Alicja created a gorgeous canvas for us.

I made a canvas with my photo, which was taken 2 years ago, before I moved to Ireland. It was a very pleasant and nostalgic session with a talented photographer.
I built the background with gesso, old book pages, white paint and glimmer mists. And the wings by Scrapiniec - I played with white paint, gesso, clear artsugar and glimmer mist.
At the end I added some paper flowers by Prima. I made this canvas in a good company with Tandiart, so this project really gives me a wings :)

Isn't this canvas just so beautiful and ethereal?
Here's a closer look...

Thanks so much Asica for your gorgeous and stunning project...it really is an inspiration!

Please pop over to Asica's blog, she is sure to welcome the visit! ;-)

There is still a short amount of time to enter this challenge.
You can perhaps squeeze one last project in, before the month ends! ;-)

There's some gorgeous goodies up for grabs.

Guest Designer Michelle McDonald!

We're thrilled to welcome Guest Designer, and December Challenge Winner, Michelle McDonald to the blog today. She created a stunning layout for us as well as a video tutorial! Thanks for sharing your creativity Michelle!

Hi! My name is Michelle, and I’m thrilled to be guest designing for Berry71Bleu. I live in a small town in Tennessee with my wonderfully supportive husband John, and our daughter Makara. My family is featured throughout my work, they are my world. My addiction to scrapbooking began about 2 years ago. I began because I think it's a beautiful way to display photos while documenting our everyday moments, and it's the perfect creative outlet for me - there are so many different techniques, styles and yummy supplies to play with! I enjoy creating a variety of projects including layouts, cards, tags, off the page projects, and the occasional mini album. You can find me at http://michellesscrapdesigns.blogspot.com/

Here's Michelle's take on our January "Things with Wings" Challenge.

SHABBY CHIC STYLE - HAT BOX by Mandy

Happy Hello Friends!

Today it's my turn to share my design team project.  I tend to create from one extreme to another.....My last personal post was manly, grungy rocker to romantic, feminine florals and lace....I do love both styles!
When I saw the gorgeous papers from digitalPAPERS -  I knew exactly what I wanted to create.  Shabby Chic style was calling my name! My very first thought was "hat box"! Thank you digitalPAPERS for sponsoring the design team this month!
This month's fun challenge is called:
"Things with Wings"
hosted by Sylwia

The below photo was taken in daylight.  I wanted this creation to be tiered by adding floral foam to the lid (can be removed).  I created my own butterflies and hot glued them to wire.  They can be removed from the floral foam and arranged any way you like....I show photo's taken at various angles around the box.
I started this project by adhering the digital images (laser copied) to the lid and around the circular box using "Mod Podge"....My cat had to quick get into the picture....He's very nosey while I'm working on my projects.  He likes to keep me company.
I hope you can join us this month!  We are looking forward to seeing your beautiful creations!

Bonheur - Things with Wings January Challenge by Cathi

Hi, Cathi here with this month's Berry71Bleu challenge layout: Things With Wings

As you can see I have gone a little wild with the fussy cutting of the wonderful wonderful digi images from our generous January sponsor by digitalPAPER. I printed these at home quickly and easily and used them to create my flower frame around the photo of my daughter in her first pointe class. I just love the colors and details in these images!

For my things with wings, I chose to add some simple little butterflies as part of my layout...even these were punched from the digi papers!!

I fussy cut two sheets worth of flowers to create my garden frame. That is the great thing about digital files it allows you to print out as many copies as you need. I decided to make a garden on my layout so needed to print out a second sheet!!

I used a gorgeous paper from 7 Dots Studio Soulmates as my base paper, adding in some background misting, splashing and stamping. I added in a chipboard title and frame and some twine to add detail. I really enjoyed using the digital files and greating a layout around them this month and I hope you like it!!

Thanks for stopping by & looking forward to seeing your interpretation of this month's challenge. Now onto this month's sponsors & prizes...

Guest Designer - Athanasia Papantoniou

Hello Everyone

We have a super Guest Designer for the Things with Wings challenge.
She is a really talented and creative lady....

Hello! My name is Athanasia and I'm very happy to be here with you today! I live in Greece, I am a music teacher in elementary school and in my spare time, when I am not playing the piano, I love making handicrafts, felting, altering things and of course scrapbooking. I like scrapbooking because it combines such a vast deposit of media types not only with memories of my life and my family, but also with emotions and ideas whenever I have in my head and want desperately to express! Inspiration always derives from the photograph I use and the open choice of combination of mixed media techniques. I love to use gesso, mists and stamps! Through scraping I think I have found the best way to express myself and exploit my spare time in the best way.

Athanasia created this gorgeous page.

For my layout I used a white sheet, because I wanted to create my own background as I visualized it when I found this beautiful photo on Pinterest. I love using photos I find on the web, I think it's more artistic for my work.

Anyway, to create this background, I used a stencil with gesso (I can't work without gesso, lol), then I sprayed a black mist with water to create a watercolor effect and finally I stamped a hand script with black ink.  As I wanted to focus on the background and make the photo stand out of the composition, i used very few embellishments: some flowers (sprayed with black mist) and buttons, some of them broken into pieces and a handmade heart. I also used two chipboard wings; I torn one of them to match it with the title "broken". I sprayed them with black mist and added some golden powder. The title is written with chipboard letters (also sprayed with black mist) and I did some journaling around the page by hand. For the final touch, I splashed the page with black mist.

Isn't this just a beauty of a page!!

Thanks so much Athanasia for creating for us at Berry71Bleu.

There is still time to enter the challenge and some great prizes to be won.

My Little Angel Layout By Kay

Happy January Berry71Bleu fans!  Kay here with my interpretation of this month's challenge: Things With Wings.

My project incorporated several items & elements with wings.  I used washi paper in the background with butterfly images, I perched a small yellow bird embellishment on top of the nest & I decided to give my little guy his very own pair of angel wings.  I'm always saying how my son is my 'sweet little angel' so the idea to give him some sort of angel wings has been brewing in my mind for some time now--the opportunity finally came where I can add wings to him & it made sense!

My son was just a little over a month old when this photo was taken.  His sweet face has changed a bit since then but he still has those big brown eyes.

Here you can see the different layers of washi shape that I applied to the background.  I also did a bit of misting & masking with modeling paste.  Working with white mixed media always pops more against a solid black background.

I kept the overall design of the page simple--I wanted the main focus to be on my photo.

I tucked a small glassine bag underneath the photo that serves as pocket where I inserted a tag. This will hold my journaling.

I've used images by one of our sponsors this month by Digital Paper.  The floral images were pink so I edited the color in Photoshop & made them blue to go along with the colors of my layout.  That's the beauty of digital images--you can make them any color you want with just a bit of knowledge on how to edit images with a photo editor.  I then fussy cut the flowers & tucked them behind my photo.  Voila!  Instant customized embellishments!

Thanks for stopping by & looking forward to seeing your interpretation of this month's challenge.  Now onto this month's sponsors & prizes...
