Change Can Be Bittersweet Layout by Kay

Good morning fellow scrappers!  Kay here with my take on Marilyn's challenge for November "Change is Beautiful".  Yes change can indeed be a beautiful thing--but in some instances it can also be bittersweet.  I interpreted this challenge to portray my feelings of seeing my son grow this past year.  I feel like this year flew by in a blink & I'm still trying to grasp the fact that one year ago I had this little 7 lbs bundle in my arms & now I have a 20 lbs toddler in the making.

It's bittersweet for me--I'm so happy to see him grow yet sad to see that with every passing day he's less and less of a baby & growing into a little man with a big personality.

All papers used is from our sponsor 7 dots.  I used papers mostly from their 'Love is in the Air' collection but I also took bits and pieces from 'The Queen's Heart' collection.

I took a then and now photo of my son to show how much he's physically changed this past year.  He was barely a month and 1/2 when this photo was taken.

Here he is at 12 months.  As you can see from this photo...I'm clinging onto these precious moments for dear life!

I've used a lovely tag made by Marivic to embellish my page.  The 'sweet' elements used on the tag coordinated with my 'bittersweet' theme.

I took inspiration for my design from a Page Drafts sketch.  Now onto this months prizes...

My name is Tracey Sabella, and I reside in northeast Ohio with my amazing husband, Gary. Our family and faith have always been an important part of our lives. We've been blessed with four wonderful children, and with two weddings in as many years, our family is growing.

I'm a shabby chic mixed media artist and enjoy the creative outlet of paper crafting. I'm a life long crafter and employ many of those skills on my projects. I adore learning new techniques along the way and enjoy sharing my projects along with tips, techniques, and tutorials on my blog. I am so thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to guest design with Berry71Bleu this month. I also design for Donna Salazar Designs, Once Upon A…Sketch, and Helmar.

I just have to express how much I enjoyed designing with this month's challenge!! When I studied the November Berry71Bleu Mood Board, I immediately thought about the changes that happen as our children meet their soul mates and start making plans for a life together. It has been so sweet to watch our children make these changes and start lives of their own apart from us.

I was drawn to this engagement photo of our middle daughter, Elizabeth, and her husband, Andrew. The color and design in this gorgeous 7 Dots Studio, 9th Wave paper, couldn't be more perfect for this sweet photo. I've added a mix of handcrafted and purchased flowers along with gorgeous chipboard, jewelry findings, and vintage buttons. The phrase in the mood board was just perfect for my title, and I used the blues and pinks for my color palette.

This lovely chipboard flourish was colored by heat embossing with Fran-tage Aged Aqua embossing enamel and the key with a Metallic Bronze embossing powder. I softened the flowers and metal embellishments by brushing with gesso. You can also see behind the title where I have splattered gesso to add visual texture. I have a collection of vintage buttons that friends and family have blessed me with, and I've added some of them around the flowers and title. 

This focal flower was hand crafted with petals cut from Grand Peony and Carnation Creations dies. The petals were dampened, scrunched and misted to achieve this texture and color. The shell button is from my vintage button collection. I also keep my eye open in the jewelry department and grab jewelry findings that have been clearanced. The crystal flower and art deco piece are some that I've found. 

I colored this lovely chipboard butterfly with Luminarte Twinkling H2O's - streaking the color across the chipboard. After it had dried I added more texture with gesso. Next to my butterfly, you can see the dimension where I used modeling paste with a stencil, then brushed with Perfect Pearls Mist. I adore how the mica in the mist pooled into the crevices of the dried molding paste. It's hard to see here, but the mica glistens beautifully in the light.

A New View...by Marilyn Rivera

Hello lovely people!! Here's Marilyn and this month I'm hosting  the November challenge"Change is Beautiful" in which consist of a mood board and the word "change"... In my case, I'm moving from Puerto Rico to North Carolina, USA which is a big change for me and my family.  You can only imagine how busy I'm at the moment packaging, planning, leaving everything ...  My husband is already living there and he sent me this photo of my new bedroom view through his cellphone...It will be my new view in about a month, every day I will be looking out.  Changes are exciting, a little scary but I always think that when a new door opens a lot of opportunities are waiting for us...so "Change is Beautiful!" and this is my inspiration....

and I made this page inspired in the next mood board and I added lot of flowers..

You Make Me Happy by Dana Tatar

Hello Berry71Bleu fans! Dana here with you again, sharing another layout that I created for the November "Change is Beautiful" Challenge. I used the gorgeous 7 Dots Studio Hopefully Collection for this page. I was also inspired by this Carl Sanburg quote: “Two bubbles found they had rainbows on their curves. They flickered out saying: 'It was worth being a bubble, just to have held that rainbow thirty seconds.'" Life is short, and precious moments are even more so. Like the bubbles, my daughter changes in the blink of an eye and I want to be there for every beautiful second of it!

 

I incorporated several colors from the mood board and the challenge theme of change into my design. I built up layers of vintage newspaper, trinkets and lace with items from my Zeus and Zoe Kit. 

I added both color and texture to the background of this page and all my chipboard pieces with Liquitex gesso and acrylic paints. To mimic the circle shape of the bubbles in my photo I added circles with the help of a stencil, circular pieces of patterned paper and splatters of paint.
