When I saw the January Moodboard I felt that it is totally fits to my style. During the Christmas season when I was on a shopping tour I saw a peacock feather on a shelf in a creative store. I have never used feathers on my pages as an embellishment, so this was a real challenge for me, so I decided to buy and apply one. This was where the creative process of my layout begun.
The photo on the layout was taken in Alsace (France) this summer at the garden of the Mont-Saint-Odile Monastery, which was on the top of the hill with a breathtaking view.
Let's take a look at the moodboard again!
I was inspired by the dark sky with the bright stars and naked trees, the wonderful colours of peacock feathers, the huge flower on the cake and the white pattern as decoration, and last but least the wooden structrure of the background.
And now some close up where you can see how I visualize all these gorgeous mood crumbs.
The background paper is from 7 Dots Studio Destination Unknown collection. I have used clear stamps to get the wooden texture and the stain on the top and bottom of the page. Thanks to the stencil and acrylic paint mixed with 3D powder I got crackle structure which reminds me of bare trees.
The damask motiv on the left and right side of the layout was created by black embossing powder. I achieved the white decoration with stencil and structure paste. When it dried I felt that it was too violent so I inked the surface with turquise chalk ink to darker a little.
I found some die cuts and stickers from the same 7 Dots Studio collection which perfectly fits to my layout and the theme of travelling, and "sailing away". The small turquise marbles are not scrapbook stuffs, I bought them as a nail art embellisments, so it is a totally unusal new lifestyle for them. :)
