Guest Designer Nicole Doiron

I am Nicole from Canada. A small coastal town called Beresford in the province of New Brunswick, to be more specific. I share a home with my soulmate Yves (we've been together for 8 years) and our furry purry baby, Sugar the cat. We don't have children of our own, but we do have 2 wonderful nieces who we love to spoil and have fun with. I work in a fairly uninspiring office job during the day, and I let my inspiration and creativity loose in the evenings and weekends, doing the hobby that I love so much...scrapbooking!

My scrapbooking style varies a lot, adapting itself constantly to my moods and inspirations. My forte is definitely shabby chic and/or romantic elegant layouts, from single to double-pages. I like to use a lot of embellishments (chipboard shapes, flowers, gems/pearls, metal accents, ribbons/trims, etc) and I love to incorporate different techniques on my creations like handmade stitching, stenciling with gesso or molding paste, misting, whitewashing, etc.

I loved the challenge this month as I always love a good sketch as primary inspiration for my layouts. Sandra's sketch was exceptionally fun to work with because of its linear design and all the white space around the picture that leaves the creative imagination to go wild. I used some chipboard in lieu of paper to create the circle and striped effect of the sketch.

My layout is called, "Sisters Make the Best Friends," and I found the perfect photo to be enhanced by the gorgeous friendship tag created by Marivic. I have not only been inspired by the picture and theme on the tag, but also the lovely colors. I focused mostly on orange hues for my layout, to mirror the gorgeous tag.

I was was so thrilled to see my orange "Sunbeam Sweetie" handmade embellishment from my Etsy Shop included on the tag - it looks right at "home" there! I have also used two other handmade products from my Etsy Shop on my layout; the "Bright Star", which is a new product in stock (this is the large size used here), and the "Fuzzy Felt Clouds" in white, (various sizes pack used here).

I have also die-cut some gold glitter cardstock in round shapes and placed them in three places on my layout, inspired by the lovely gold buttons on the tag. Plus, the eclectic assortment of embellishments on my page, which range from handmade and vintage to delicate and funky, was directly inspired also by the collection of embellishments on the Berry71Bleu tag.

Time Flies by Cathi

Hi! Cathi here today sharing my take on Sandra's August sketch. This month we were generously sponsored by Creative Embellishments and by the ChantalVandenberg Etsy Shop!  I even based the color scheme of my layout on Chantal's gorgeous Flower Dreamer Embellishment felt embellishments I used!

Here you can see the fun  #SUMMER chippie I used from the Social Hash Tag chipboard set.  Sandra's sketch has a very modern look so I went for modern shaped chippies, like the Time Flies Frame Set and the Squares set.

I used the adorable Flower Dreamer Embellishment from Chantal in two places. I painted my chipboard  in a blue to match the embellishments and used a fun pink Scrap Cake paper from my stash that fit in perfectly. Because I had to add some of my usual touches I used a Prima Circles mask and some Shimmerz Texturez to make my background and of course added a few flowers!
