Sexy Santa by Marilyn

Hello everyone!!  I can't believe is almost the last days of the year and my last project like design team member for Berry71Bleu. It was a wonderful year in this team, thanks Marivic!!  This month Kay is hosting the December challenge that is all about..."joy" and I made a page about one hobby that brings me joy and I'm not talking about scrapbooking, lol! that I love it!
I also enjoy photography or in other words take photos because I'm not a professional, I'm just a mom with a camera in hand trying to capture these little daily moments and the important ones, too.  I took this picture to my biggest niece Nerymar, she is a little shy girl  but the day that she was wearing this Santa costume, she was projecting a positive attitude like a  real model,  I called the sexy Santa and I can captured through my camera lenses.
This month I worked with the beautiful UHK papers- Fruits of the Forest Collection. and Liquitex acrylic paints.

I also used some cheesecloth, washi tape and molding paste.

I added some flowers, pearls and corrugated cardboard.

You can see here, the gorgeous handmade tag by Marivic that you can buy in her shop....HERE

Here are all the December challenge details...

We have a two-part challenge this month.  This time of year is to reflect on the past & to look forward on what is yet to come.  It's a season for being thankful, to surround yourself with loved ones & to enjoy the simple pleasures life has to offer.  Many call this the 'most joyous time of year'.

With this in mind the December challenge is simply: Joy.  What brings you Joy?  What always puts a smile on your face?  Joy can be interpreted in many ways.  Think about what person, place, activity, pet, hobby or simple pleasure gives you joy.  This can be anything--that first warm cup of morning coffee, reading your favorite book, your family, your dog cuddling up next to you!  Think outside of the box.
The second part of this challenge is that you must include journaling.  Your journaling must be at least 3 sentences or more.  Jotting down places & dates do not count.  I want you to document your thoughts & explain why the subject you chose to scrap brings you joy.

Here's the challenge board to bring you some inspiration.

Special Guest Designer Emily Hammann!

Today we're excited to welcome back Special Guest Designer Emily Hammann!

I’m a mixed media artist living in St. Louis, MO with my fiance, two children, two cats and bird. I started creating in 2008 with layouts after receiving a scrapbook for my birthday. Once I began making layouts, I never looked back. I moved on to tags, cards, altered items and finally mixed media. I prefer mixed media now, and am at my happiest when my hands are covered in paints and inks. I’m fortunate to have an extremely understanding fiance’ when it comes to my work. When I am not in my art studio or teaching at a LSS, I am with my family going for hikes, walks, or visiting local hot spots where I can always find inspiration. If not I will be curled up with a good book or watching one of my favorite shows. Currently I am on the Genuinely Jane Studios and Creative Inspirations Paint Design Teams. You can find me on my blog at www.emilyhammann.com.

I am so happy to share my layout with you! This time of year is full of so many things that bring comfort and joy to me, and one of those things is making sweet goodies to share with family and friends. The treats I especially love to make are buckeyes, which for those of you who aren't familiar are basically peanut butter cup like balls covered in chocolate and made to look like the real buckeyes that come from the trees. I had never had them until I got together with my fiance who is from Ohio, where they are pretty popular. :)

I wanted to make the layout as luscious as the tag I received which is made by Marivic. There were so many layers and colors, I wanted those included in my layout.

I mounted my layout to a piece of corrugated cardboard that came in a package. Using some Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Gelatos in several blues, I colored the cardboard. To tone it down, I mixed in some Liquitex Gesso. I didn't want it completely covered so I just used the gesso lightly, here and there. (I highly recommend Liquitex's gesso, by the way.)

UHK Gallery papers are used for the background, ribbon at the base of the layout, photo mat and on the Genuinely Jane Studios ornament page. Because I couldn't go without adding texture, I HAD to use some Liquitex Light Modeling Paste with a stencil on my background UHK Gallery paper, as well as on the wood Ornament. I am a huge fan of texture!

You can see the beautiful tag by Marivic which I have used for more layers on my ornament, over a doily and being used as a pocket for my journaling, which I put on a tag made with UHK Gallery paper.  I normally don't do so many layers, but the tag was so inspiring!!

The journaling on the tag reads: One of the many things that brings me joy during the holiday season is the backed goods, cookies, and goodies that get made. Even more, I love sharing what I make with others. I get the kids involved and we make buckeyes together. Although, they eat at least half of what we make... Oh well! :)

Once again, I have enjoyed being a Guest Designer and had a great time with the challenge. Have a Very Merry Christmas, New Year and Holiday Season, no matter where you are!!

December projects from Marivic

Hello!! Merry Christmas! Just want to quickly share with you projects I made using our sponsor, UHK Papers. The first page, I used the challenge theme this month.

This paper is from UHK Fruits of the Forest Collection. Using a photo of my daughter, who brings me joy....All my children brings me joy and I'm so grateful that they are in my life. Everything I do, I do for them.

Next page, I also used one of the UHK paper as the background. The colors are in the plum hues so I thought I'd use the traditional red and green X-mas colors and a splash of pink.

Last page...I made especially for my dear friend Agnieszka (Bellaidea). I want to thank her for everything she's done for me and our team. She's been a part of our team for 2 years. I consider her one of my (few) good friends in this "scrapping" world. I've seen her achieve in so many ways and I am very happy for her. Through these times, she stood by me and has remained a great friend...a friend that never judge and always help whenever needed.

So..Thank you Agnieszka....Your friendship means a lot to me...

And thank you to the rest of my designers who's talents are unmeasurable. They've created so many amazing projects for Berry71bleu and had shared their creativity with all of us.
Thank you to all our 2013 Guest Designers..Always a great pleasure to work with!

Thank you and Happy Holidays to all of you!!

I will see you all next year with our new DT Members!

Special Guest Designer Tusia Lech

We are thrilled to have Tusia Lech, owner of 7 Dots Studio, sharing her work today as our Special Guest Designer for December!

I love all kinds of media – if I have to define my style, I would say that media is the only constant thing. My favourite colours are fresh, bold greens, blues and pinks, but at the same time I just love delicate, pale hues of beige, rose and white. However there is something in my projects, that can be found always – a positive, feminine style.

Scrapbooking fills my whole life – it is all around me – in my private life and in my job career. I love the process of creation – I have created things since early childhood – all kinds of handmade things always attracted me. I cannot imagine my life without making some art. Even if I leave for a weekend, I always take my small “art-bag”, filled with art-journal supplies. I am lucky enough to be a designer in a few very creative places. I love drinking coffee, reading books, walking through the forest, watching flowers on the meadow, basking in the autumn sun and being deep in my inner world. I can say that I am happy person and wouldn’t change a single thing in my life.

I just love December!!! There is so much joy and fun in everything! Gingerbreads backing, creating embellishments with my kids, documenting everyday happiness - the most precious things to remember. Simple things are the most valuable to me!

For this layout I have used a photo taken in Warsaw Park, a very well known and very often visited park by our family, but each time we are there, my kids are so happy seeing the squirrels, ducks, big gold fish and pigeons. Walking in this park is our joy found in simple moments! Priceless! The background paper is from the 7 Dots Studio Hopefully collection. I used a lot of different embellishments, some gesso and I also did some stamping.

My second project is a card with a gorgeous tag incorporated. The tag is handmade by Marivic - it is so beautiful that at first I didn't want to add anything to it :) Finally, I decided to make a Christmas card.

The background paper is UHK Gallery misted with Olive Lindy's Stamp Gang mist. I have added some embellishments and a bell, which really rings :) Just like Santa Claus' sleigh bells :)

Thank you for visiting Berry71Bleu and looking at my projects. Have a wonderful day!
~Tusia
